Skin conditions (unless externally caused) are only a symptom of an underlying metabolic disorder - the skin and ears of a cat act as a ‘relief valve’ for metabolic toxins that have accumulated inside the body.
By the time you see a skin condition (the final stage of a process) there has been much going on for several months or years.
Dry, semi-moist and wet foods contain many chemical preservatives, colors, flavors and additives that accumulate inside your cat. Over time these indigestible materials begins to accumulate. Your cat’s immune system forces them out to the least critical organ system - the skin.
The skin is your cats largest organ of elimination (an excretory organ). Remember, these substances are not ‘food’ - your cat’s internal organs (liver and kidneys) do not know how to handle these chemicals.
What can I do?? Consider a home prepared diet!
