The Natural Canine takes a different approach than conventional medicine for skin problems. Let me give you a little background. Most skin problems are a result of an underlying metabolic disorder. Whether the skin condition presents as eczema (moist or dry), hot spots, ear or eye discharge etc. depends upon the individual dog. The skin is an excretory organ, your dog's largest organ of elimination. Discharge symptoms (rashes, ear and eye discharge, licking paws, etc) are considered health- showing the body is pushing metabolic wastes and toxins to the surface. This is why it's important not to treat with suppressive drugs that simply mask the symptoms and force the toxins and wastes back into the body (steroids, antihistamines). Given sufficient time, this suppressive approach will cause the problem to settle in an internal organ system. Keep in mind the natural course is for your dog to move any unwanted material to the least critical organ system (like the skin) in order to protect more critical organs like the liver, kidneys, bladder)

Allow yourself to look at your dog’s symptoms as his/her way of discharging some toxic materials. The skin symptoms are NOT the disease - they are part of the healing! What exactly are these toxins? Here are a few.

1. Chemicals, preservatives, colorings, additives in chewable heartworm meds.
2. Metabolic wastes from commercial foods, treats (preservatives, chemicals, drug residues, indigestible fillers)
3. Environmental toxins - air pollution, toxic household cleaners, and chemicals sprayed on carpeting.
4. Multiple vaccinations (polyvalent 5 in 1 types) stressing/depressing the immune system
5. Excessive shampooing and grooming disturbing the delicate, natural protective skin mantle
6. Water (chlorinated, treated municipal)
7. Drugs

Over time the accumulated 'stuff' collects and is discharged. It can takes weeks, months or years before symptoms surface.

Our approach is to try and create the most nontoxic environment for your dog - both internally and externally. Using diet, herbs and homeopathy (none of these are suppressive) we begin to heal from the inside.

This approach takes time - gradual but steady improvement is seen over a 2-5 month period.

Skin problems are not easy to treat, as you already know.

Our approach is to use diet, gentle herbs and homeopathic remedies to work with the body to heal from the inside.  Write to us

Why not take the first step to a gentle, nontoxic home treatment?
