Hot spots - the veterinary medical term is acute moist pyoderma which means that the hot spots appear rapidly and are oozing skin infections that either itch or create an inflammatory response in a local area. In cases of itching, your canine rubs, licks or chews the area which adds to the problem. These sores may develop into severe problems if not treated. At The Natural Canine we look at the skin as a ‘relief valve’ - metabolic wastes are coming out from the inside. If hot spots are only treated topically, the ‘problem’ is pushed back into the body. If the natural path is blocked there will be trouble later on perhaps affecting a more critical organ system (liver, kidney, heart, urinary tract)
