Chronic bronchitis (CB) is an inflammatory airway disease, which, in association with tracheobronchial collapse, is probably the most common chronic canine airway disorder. Inflammation within airways causes chronic cough and excessive mucus production. Because, dogs can’t expectorate (spit), it is not always easy to know if the dog is making increased airway mucus. Therefore, the diagnosis of CB is usually based on chronic cough alone.

If your dog has chronic bronchitis you need to take a broader approach to natural support. Chronic bronchitis differs from acute tracheo-bronchitis in being mucoid rather than a dry hacking cough. Chronic bronchitis may be easily excited by extraneous factors such as frequent movement, exercise and palpation of the chest and throat. Thus the symptoms tend to ameliorate (improve) when the dog rests.
Often chronic bronchitis will develop as a sequel to some other infectious disease of a systemic nature, probably viral. It is also seen in older animals accompanying heart weakness.
While it is important to address the presenting symptoms it is equally important to take a holistic approach. Diet and the environment need to be looked at. External factors such as carpeting, lawn chemicals, household cleaners, smoke, and pollution will aggravate symptoms. Diet needs to be pure, fresh foods that help to eliminate metabolic wastes and eliminate fluid retention and keep excess weight down thus improving the overall respiratory health.

How it works
The kit contains a homeopathic cough remedy which is a broad spectrum homeopathic remedy. The cough remedy contains Drosera, Arsenicum, Spongia, and Baryta Carb in homeopathic potencies. These remedies address both acute and chronic cough. Spongia is a useful remedy where there are heart problems as well, Drosera is for coughing, Arsenicum is a deep acting remedy addressing many symptoms of cough and bronchitis, and Baryta is particularly useful in older dogs with cough and respiratory afflictions.

Atractylodes is often used with ginseng in immune enhancing formulas. It tonifies the digestion and energy and increases white blood cell count. Kelp is the source for organically bound iodine to maintain a healthy thyroid. Garlic is used to reduce the risk of cancer and infections and is extremely protective of the cardiovascular system. This formula adds up to major support for your animal friend’s immune system.
Ingredients
Asian ginseng root, atractylodes rhizome, poria sclerotium (hoelen), licorice root, kelp thalus, garlic bulb, astragalus root, schisandra fruit, stevia leaf.
The homeopathic remedy is a 15 ml plastic bottle and is designed to last about 1 month. With homeopathy the goal is to give the least amount of the remedy and still get results. So you begin with 5-7 drops 3 or 4 times per day. As you see improvement over the next few days you reduce the dose to 2 times per day, then once per day if that dose 'holds'. Each dog is different and may require a different dose.
The herbal Pet Boost Powdered Herbal is added to the food 1 or 2 times per day according to weight.
Chronic bronchitis may not be 'cured' with this kit - we cannot guarantee the results because there are so many factors involved with any chronic case. Environment, heart, diet, age, general health, breed and breed history, etc.
